Design & Technological Upgradation Design Development & Technological upgradation in Handicrafts sector are essential for improving quality acceptable to the customers in the changed scenario. Each craft is highly complicated involving numerous processes and strategies. Local crafts have their traditional ways of production, their own designs, colour, shapes and etc.. But the changed attitude & modern buyers do not appreciate the conventional ones. In view of the above, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), New Delhi organise Design and Technical Development Workshop through its Regional Design and Technical Development Centres in collaboration with NGOs, Co-operative Societies under Grant-in Aid schemes. The Regional Design & Technical Development Centres also organise Design assistance programme in particular craft pockets by their official designers. They conduct demonstration programmes for the improved tools and equipments in the craft pockets for reducing the time, labour & thereby cost of production. During last 3 years the following Design and Technical Development workshops have been conducted by the Regional Design & Technical Development Centre, 9/12 old Court House Street, Kolkata under Grant-in-Aid scheme of Development Commissioner (Handicrafts). Design Workshops conducted by RD & TDC and NGOs/Co-operative Societies
Of late it is decided to invite National Institute of Designs to advice the SIHT, Bhubaneswar for improving the Handicrafts Production. |
