Baba Saheb AmbedkarHasta Silpa Vikash Yojana (AHVY)

Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hasta Silpa Vikash Yojana (AHVY) is a new scheme launched by Govt. of India, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), New Delhi during 2001-2002. The scheme aims at promoting Handicrafts by developing artisan clusters into professionally managed and self-reliant community enterprises in the principle of effective member participation and mutual co-operation. The thrust is on projected need based integrated approach for sustainable Handicrafts development through participation of craft persons. The main components of the scheme are as follows:-

  1. To organise artisan clusters into Self Help Groups or co-operative societies with a view to enable them to take up economic activity.

  2. To empower artisans by making them active entrepreneurs-cum-primary stake holders in the process of development and bringing them to a visible platform for every access to domestic and overseas market.

  3. To upgrade artisan skill through appropriate designs technology intervention.

  4. To provide adequate infrastructure support for improvement of quality and productivity.

  5. To ensure effective participation of all members involved in production & marketing.

  6. To create centre of excellence with well integrated linkages.
